Smith College Fudge

Ingredients

  • -- nuts (optional)

  • -- 1/2 cup sweet cream

  • -- 1/4 cup Karo syrup

  • -- 1 cup packed brown sugar

  • -- 4 oz chopped chocolate

  • -- 1 cup white sugar

  • -- 1/4 cup butter

  • -- 1 tsp vanilla


Instructions

Mix the first four ingredients together. Melt the butter and pour in the previously mixed ingredients. Bring to boil and boil for 2 1/2 minutes. Then add the chopped chocolate and boil another 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add vanilla; beat until it thickens. Stir constantly from the time you put it on to cook until it is ready to pour into an 8-inch buttered baking pan. Nuts are optional but should be added just before pouring into baking pan. Cool and cut.
