Baked Beans

When the kids were little they liked them better without the onion, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and vinegar.

servings:

About 8 servings

Ingredients

  • -- 1/2 to 3/4 cup ketchup (Hunt's preferred)

  • -- 1 tsp red wine vinegar

  • -- bacon slices (regular cut, not thick)

  • -- 1/2 to 3/4 cup brown sugar

  • -- two 28 oz cans Bush's Original baked beans

  • -- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • -- 1/2 chopped onion

  • -- 1 tbsp mustard

  • -- pinch salt

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Drain the liquid off the beans, stir in sugar and ketchup (and optional ingredients if using) into the drained beans. Put in a casserole dish and cover with bacon slices. Bake for about an hour, uncovered, or until the bacon is done. Watch them to make sure they don’t get too dry. If there are leftovers, they freeze well.
